Giving

Do you remember learning to read? More than likely, you don't. Can you imagine someone going through life not being able to read, not being able to help his or her child learn to read? To date, nearly 120,000 people in central Ohio don't have the ability to read. The Columbus Literacy Council fights the reading battle every day. With nearly 500 Volunteers and Classroom Instructors, CLC improved more than 1,200 adults lives last year by giving them the ability to read.

Tutoring is very difficult, being tutored is even more difficult. And, doing so with poor supplies is not easy. CLC isn't rich. It will cost CLC more than $750,000 to serve its students this year, about $812 per student. As you can see, our expenses are not cheap. Your gift provides CLC with the money it needs to support our adult learners and their tutors.
